TYLDESLEY and District Historical Society have a busy programme up to May 2001.
On September 21 John Aldred will give an illustrated talk on "James Naysmith of Patricroft: the Steamhammer Man".
James Fairhurst will relate a grim tale of "Murders in Victorian Wigan" on October 19.
November 16 sees Fred Barton taking a humorous look at courting traditions in by-gone days.
On December 21 Fred Holcroft 's topic will be "Christmas Traditions".
In the New Year Mr Richards will relate "A History of Manchester Cathedral" on January 18, while on February 15 Maureen Gilbertson's subject will be "Votes for Women".
Tony Ashcroft will pass on "Funeral Customs" on March 15 and on April 19 Stan Smith will speak on "More of God's Wonderful Railway".
An annual visit will be arranged for May.
