IS it me or is there something odd about the way the festivals were awarded this year?
The question I would like answering is a simple one.
How does an out of town company who have no track record in this town and no line up until the last minute be awarded two festivals over Steve Middlesbrough who has proved year after year that he can organise top festivals with top artists?
Is it simply cost?
I can't believe those who award these things would be naive enough not to weigh up the content of each show and just decided on the bottom line. If that is the case I will be putting in a proposal next year.
Also, I thought the idea of having the festivals was to attract visitors into the resort. How are they going to do this when with a fortnight to go the line up has still not been announced?
Was it personal? Had Mr Middlesbrough upset someone? I hope not a as that would be seriously unprofessional. Did the festivals go out to tender last year? I don't recall it.
It is about time the tourism committee got down to some serious work? Instead of spending time being photographed at the opening of an envelope they should sort out where they are going with this town.
I don't think we have heard the last of this. Morecambe has been short-changed this year when it comes to festivals. If I were a tourist reliant business in Morecambe I would be asking some very serious questions indeed. Something smells.
Concerned Festival goer.
