GOOD sportsmanship has been honoured with a special award at King Edward VII and Queen Mary School in Lytham.
Sam Ormsby, Margaret Chaggar and Rachel Webb (pictured) have all just completed their first year of senior school, and Sam has represented the school at rugby, cricket and athletics while Margaret and Rachel have been in the school teams for athletics, hockey and netball.
Now each has been awarded one of the school's top sporting awards for their fair play and sporting attitude on the field. The John Bell shield and the Joan Harley shield bear the names of former Heads at the Lytham School. School Principal Julian Wilde feels that it is very important to recognise sportsmanship.
"Rachel, Margaret and Sam all play their sport competitively but fairly and in the right spirit," he said. "They respect their opponents and are good members of their own teams. I congratulate them on this very prestigious annual award."
The three young winners received their shields at a special ceremony at the school from a distinguished former pupil, Sue West, Director of Communications for Glaxo Wellcome.
