ON my way to church yesterday morning I looked up and saw the wonderful clouds.
What a lovely land this is, I thought. I am 83 years old, I love life and all the people I see during my daily life.
When I was small, I went to a large hall in the city of Leicester, I was there with many other children.
We were fed and music was played - Land Of Hope And Glory.
Never will I forget this, and the small pencil case I was given as a present on my way home.
Nowadays life is so different.
I live near the Post Office in Cop Lane, near all those lovely green fields.
But people of my age can't sit down and admire them, we don't have seats nowadays.
Why? Because these mindless vandals take such delight in destruction. We don't have standards any more, they do what they like, and who cares?
There is a lovely pond not far away, well, it used to be lovely, but not any more. These days it is full of rubbish, bottles, etc.
'England's green and pleasant land' is no more.
These days it is full of rubbish that people leave behind for some one else to clean and remove.
This does not happen in Canada and America. I've been there, the cities are clean.
H Kendle, Penwortham.
