MY name is Brenda Crampton, age 69, born 1930. On behalf of the senior citizens (we never complain) I think we have been badly done to by Mr. Blair.
I thought we stood a chance when he got in at Number 10 but no such luck -- he is just as bad as the past ones.
They make pensioners feel as if we are in the way. First we take up hospital beds, then he insults us by raising the pension -- mine has gone up from £68.09 to £68.86. Why bother?
Next Mr Blair conned us, the pensioners, by announcing that we would be entitled to a free TV licence. I always understood a person came on pension at the age of 60 or 65, but Mr Blair pulls another fast one and said 75 was the age.
Well, I might be a bit slow at 69, but I haven't heard of anyone getting their state pension at 75. Is it wishful thinking on behalf of Tony that maybe some of us won't make 75? I don't know what other citizens think but, Mr Blair, believe me, you are not giving us anything we haven't already paid for.
We couldn't care less about your happy family holiday snaps, all we are interested in is a bigger and better pension, so that perhaps one day we can all go on holiday too.
I also think Jack Straw's speeding fine should go to one of the well known charities.
Mrs B.M.Crampton,
The Crescent,
St Annes.
