FITNESS fanatics got moving for a good cause when they began a gruelling decathlon at Blackburn's Regency Fitness Suite.
About 50 people are pitting their strength against workout machines at the gym against the clock this week.
To qualify, men and women must row 1,000 metres, climb the equivalent of fifty floors on a step machine, run 800 metres uphill and complete 50 sit-ups and 30 press-ups before moving on to the weights for another four challenges.
The best entrant so far is 45-year-old Gary Yates, of Higher Witton Road, who completed the course on Saturday in only 16 minutes, but more entrants will try to beat his time this week.
Gym instructors Chantelle Ashworth and Susan Hamer have organised the event to raise cash for a new project planned by gym member Nevil Barnet, children's nursing manager at Queen's Park Hospital.
Nevil is the chairman of Blackburn's CRUSE branch for bereaved people, and he hopes to start a junior section to help grieving children.
