HAVING read about the events staged by the Asian community, as part of Blackburn with Darwen South Asian Millennium Committee, I would like to express how privileged I feel to witness so many events -- some 13 in total -- being achieved in the space of a little over three weeks.
The Council and the individuals on the South Asian Millennium Committee deserve praise for demonstrating that genuine, caring and hard-working people are around within our community.
Particularly, when I went to the scrumptious curry festival, the superb concert and the first-ever mela Blackburn has had, I saw how hard these lads had worked to provide top-quality social activities for all communities, not just the ethnic minorities, while raising money for worthwhile charities.
The vision, leadership, organisation and achievements should make us proud that we at Blackburn have some of the best community volunteers in Lancashire.
