FORMER Burnley assistant manager John Ward believes the Clarets are heading in the right direction, despite their 1-0 defeat at Ward's current club.
The Wolves' number two, who held the same position under Adrian Heath at Turf Moor four seasons ago, said: "Burnley are a good side and they have done very well.
"It's a super club. Everything's right and geared to going on. Stan and Sam have been absolutely brilliant.
"Even though it looked as though they were going to get beat, they and their supporters kept going and that's what they're about.
"They are similar to us. The town is passionate about football and you only see Burnley shirts up there."
Wolves have now taken five points from their first three games and Ward added: "It's suddenly looking a good start. If we hadn't won it would have been a bad start, that's how fine the line is."
And manager Colin Lee was equally happy with Wolves' opening win, despite a not wholly convincing performance.
He said: "People talk about their good start and our not so good start but we are above them now so that's not too bad. The team worked very hard and we knew we would have to do that against Burnley.
"We have played better in the other two games and lost two points in each but obviously it's very pleasing to get our first win under our belts and remain unbeaten in the league. I think we can play better but we got three points which is very important."
