REGARDING the proposed closure of Church Street in Blackburn, I agree -- and don't agree.
First, we have not much left of the old Blackburn which was vandalised years ago by one of our late aldermen and past planners.
There is no character left in the town in contrast to Preston, which has retained much of its past.
I don't agree with the traffic problems or lost trade for shopkeepers being caused through the Church Street plan, but at least it will save the old buildings there for future generations.
E ASTLEY (Mr), Nab Lane, Stanhill Village, Accrington.
