YOUNG singers are planning to raise money for a second trip to Canada next year.
Nelson Civic Junior Choir, whose boys and girls range from 11 to 17, have accepted an invitation to return to Collingwood High School, Vancouver, where they spent a week during a two-week trip two years ago. The trip is planned for September, and the choir needs to raise about £6,000 to subsidise the members' air fares.
"We had a marvellous time the last time we were there. Collingwood made us very welcome," said conductor David Wilkinson.
"We have some money left in the kitty after our last trip, but we still need to raise the rest." The fund-raising begins with a Feast of Song celebrity concert on Sunday, October 8, featuring leading English tenor Adrian Thompson, at Colne Municipal Hall. Ticket details on 01282 618775. The choir will also sing for donations at the Trafford Centre, Manchester.
