LAST Thursday evening the final match in the National Team Open series was held on the Island Lodge in wet conditions.
The duration of the match was curtailed by bad light and when the bonus jackpot failed to be claimed it was divided between the top three individuals and two section winners.
Daz Shaw had top weight with 9-2-0. In second place was Tom Brownbill (7-5-0) and third Roy Gough (5-12-8).
Section winners were Dave Griffiths (4-14-0) and Lennie Fosdyke (4-3-0).
On Sunday the Bury Society's September Cup was held on Parkers. Jim Moore fishing peg 16 had three quality bream, the best 4lb, plus a fine net of 4oz skimmers to take top weight with 13-10-4.
In second place was Dave Bradley (6-4-0) closely followed in third by Ray Booth (6-3-4), fourth Mark Makin (3-11-4) and fifth Steve Madden (3-6-0).
Pike also proved troublesome during the match.
On Saturday several local anglers travelled into Yorkshire to fish the Partridge and Skylark pools at Woodlands.
Mick Philips (Penrith) had top weight on Skylark with 46-10-0.
In second place was Dave Jowett Junior (Fisherman's Way) fishing Skylark 8 (35-11-0), in third place came Dave Ward (Team Ward) 35-8-0, fifth was Ian Bowman (Map Elton) with 29-3-0 and sixth Dave Pimlot (Kunets North West) with 28-4-0.
On Sunday four local anglers travelled down to Peterborough to fish the fifth qualifying round of the Embassy Pairs on the River Nene which is also the venue for the Second Division National Championship to be fished tomorrow (Saturday).
Unfortunately none failed to qualify in a field of 500 anglers.
Top Individual Weights: 1st Rick Tweddell (Bourne Match Group) 7.810kg; 2nd Richard Hull (Starlets) 6.500kg; 3rd Eddie Bibby (Daiwa Wigan AC) 4.750kg; 4th Simon Young (BBC Triana) 4.690kg; 5th Neil Mallinson (Van Den Eynde Goole) 4.050kg; 6th Geoff Gladwin (Rotherham) 3.710kg.
BURY AND DISTRICT SEA ANGLERS
ON Sunday August 27, the club trip went to Conway to fish aboard Lady Gwen II for a twelve-hour wrecking trip.
Despite choppy conditions the party fished for mackerel on the way out and they enjoyed an excellent day catching good quality pollack between 5 & 6lbs together with codling.
Mark Probert caught 110 pollack and codling, the best pollack 12lb. Eddie Collins had a 3lb tub gurnard.
Everyone enjoyed themselves despite not being able to anchor up at slack water due to choppy conditions.

NEXT club match is the Lumb Challenge, a team event which takes place on Jack Lodge on Sunday, September 17.
BURY SOCIETY SENIOR SECTION
NEXT club match is for the Cookes Senior Cup to be held on Cromptons on Sunday, September 1. Draw 9am, fishing 10am to 3pm.
At present weed growth is causing problems in the margins and anglers fishing the venue have had to clear swims.
