NOTTINGHAM Forest midfielder David Prutton is out to impress England Under 21 boss Howard Wilkinson by outshining David Dunn at Ewood tomorrow.
The 18-year-old Forest star made an encouraging international debut in last week's 6-1 win over Georgia at Middlesbrough's Riverside Stadium.
But Prutton believes his current form with Forest must improve if he is to become a permanent fixture in the England set-up.
And it would do his cause no harm to get the upper hand over his new Under 21 skipper Dunn in the battle of the young guns tomorrow.
"I was very pleased with my performance for England," said Prutton.
"Howard Wilkinson told me afterwards that I'd had a good game so that was pleasing.
"Obviously I would love to get a regular place in the squad, but I've got to start playing better for Forest.
"I'm not playing anywhere near as well as I did last season.
"My standards are high but I don't feel I'm getting near them at the moment.
"But if my form with Forest improves, I'll stand a better chance of being regularly called up."
Despite Prutton's claims, however, he is still attracting attention from some of the big guns in English football.
Representatives from both Newcastle and Everton are believed to have watched the youngster in action for England last week.
