A NEW award has been set up in an effort to find worthy young citizens in the district.
With enthusiastic support from the Lancashire Partnership Against Crime and the Lancashire Juvenile Liaison Association, the High Sheriff of Lancashire, Mr Rodney Swarbrick, has introduced a Young Citizen Award.
Young people nominated should be between 13 and 17 years of age and should be actively involved in community safety or crime prevention work in their local community.
Those selected will be invited to attend a presentation at Lancashire Constabulary Headquarters when the winner of the High Sheriff's Young Citizen Award will be presented with their prize and certificate signed by the High Sheriff and the Chief Constable.
Mr Swarbrick said "There are many young people playing their part in making Lancashire a safe and good place to live and grow up in. Good news inspires us all and I hope my award will put the spotlight on some fine youngsters who are contributing to a better future by helping in their communities now."
For an entry form call Julie Parkinson on 01772 618733/618570. The closing date for entries is 31 December.
