DARWEN are going into the unknown as they launch their FA Vase campaign at home to Louth United tomorrow.
Boss Steve Wilkes admits he knows little about the Grimsby-based side which plays in the Northern Counties East League. He is certain, however, that he doesn't want a replay next Tuesday night so will be keen to get through at the first attempt and set up a trip to Curzon Ashton in the next round.
"In many ways it's better for us than the FA Cup because if you get a couple of decent draws you can go a long way in it," said Wilkes, a semi-finalist with Bamber Bridge in 1992.
Denny Khan is likely to miss out with a hamstring injury but Neil Almond and Andrew Walsh return to the squad after missing the mid-week FA Cup replay win at Penrith.
