CELEBRITY chef Paul Heathcote will join County Councillor George Slynn to search out the foods of the forest in a special event to be held at Beacon Fell.
The Foods of the Forest day, to be held at the Bowland Visitor Centre, will be officially opened by the Longridge chef at 10.30am on Saturday, September 16.
It has been organised to promote produce grown and made in and around the Forest of Bowland and has been jointly organised by Lancashire County Council's countryside service and Lancashire county commercial services, which manage the cafe facility at the centre.
Burgers, sausages and bacon sandwiches made from wild boar meat will be on sale, alongside cheese from Inglewhite and cakes from Knowle Green.
The event will be open until 4pm.
County Coun Slynn said: "I am delighted to be attending this event which is aimed at promoting local products, closing the gap between producers and consumers, developing markets for local products and helping consumers understand the link between food and the countryside.
"I am sure it will be well attended and successful. We should all be aware that buying locally helps the local economy, normally resulting in a better income for local farmers.
"Local trade cuts down on transportation mileage and costs, which, in turn, reduces environmental pollution."
