Star of the show against Hale was Paul Robinson blasted 97 off only 61 balls including five sixes and six fours to forge a 79 partnership with Dominic Sparkes (19). Phil Kelly also made a contribution of 21 not out and Nick Chapman was undefeated on 14. That took the scoreto 177-4 declared off only 44 overs. Hale didn't look like getting anywhere near the target due to the devastating pace of Paul Robinson who took 5-11. Nick Chapman claimed 2-13 and Mattie Dale 3-13 as the visitors were bowled out for only 43.
The 2nd XI won the toss at Haleand put the home side into bat.The Rainhill bowlers showed some grit and determination with young Liam Pearson leading the way in taking 2-16 with 5 maidens. Peter Swift followed up with 4-45 runs.Colin Gannon and Conor Morris helped wrap up the Hale innings at 132-7 off 58 overs.
In reply Rainhill started positively, but, with key batsmen missing, it was upto the youngsters to carry the innings through, which they did with Conor Morris scoring a superb 26 including 3 fours. Experienced batsman Ian Kelly shone through with an undefeated 26 not out to bring the innings to a close at 105-7.
