THE police have been blasted by a Radcliffe pensioner who claims they are not interested when the public try to help.
After reading an appeal for information about two men who stole money from the Chapelfield home of an 87-year-old woman in last week's Radcliffe Times, Mr Roy Wilson (65) called the police.
He said: "There had been a couple of lads hanging around all week and I thought the police should know."
Mr Wilson, who himself lives in Chapelfield made the call last Thursday (August 31), but the police had still not called him back by Monday (Sept 4th).
"I was disgusted. They did not have the courtesy to even acknowledge my call. In the end I phoned them again and asked if they ever bother to listen to their messages."
Sgt Mike Jackson of Whitefield Police said: "We hold our hands up. No-one picked up the voice mail. We were looking into another incident, but at the end of the day that is no excuse."
An officer finally visited Mr Wilson later.
