VANDALS have struck again at Giant's Seat campsite and this time with a pickaxe!
Site manager Tony Jarrod discovered the damage on Monday morning (Sept 4).
A caravan which had been donated as a replacement for the warden's hut, which itself was destroyed by arsonists last year, was destroyed.
"They'd broken into a cupboard, taken a pickaxe and proceeded to smash it into the walls and roof of the caravan. It's totally beyond repair," said Mr Jarrod.
Martin Lodge, a concrete prefab where youngsters stay, was also attacked. A microwave oven was smashed, curtains ripped and crockery thrown around.
Mr Jarrod said: "I'm gutted. I can't understand how someone has it in them to do something like that. We don't make a profit, we just do it to give pleasure to youngsters."
The incident happened between 3pm on Sunday and 10am on Monday and although there were no witnesses, police are hopeful that fingerprints and bloodstains may yield some clue as to the identity of the vandals.
