A LIFESTYLE project to help people find out how fit they are and how they can stay healthy will be launched on Monday, September 9.
Newton and Earlestown residents are being invited to take part in a free 'Health and Lifestyle Assessment' set up thanks to the Newton 21 Single Regeneration Budget.
The project is a pilot scheme, which it is hoped will be expanded to other areas of the borough, and members of the public can have their health assessed using the latest Fitech computer equipment.
Assessments include blood pressure monitoring, flexibility tests, diet and nutrition information and body fat measurements. The results are then fed into the computer and the client can discuss these with the assessor who will pinpoint potential problems and give advice on how to avoid them.
Sessions will be held every day of the week until April 2001 at the following locations: Newton College Campus, Crow Lane East; Newton Methodist Church, Chapel Street; Newton Boys and Girls Club, Grafton Street; The Trees Community Centre, Alder Street, Wargrave; and the Newton Family Community Centre, Park Road South.
Project co-ordinator, Paul Robinson, said: "This is a great opportunity for local residents to take advantage of the latest equipment and take advice that will have a positive effect on their quality of life."
