A £16million campaign to clean up the streets of Leigh and Wigan is stepping up.
The 11-step route to "neat, tidy and well maintained" community areas has now entered its research phase, with findings to be submitted by Christmas this year.
Dubbed "Street Scene," the campaign aims to address the "main things residents, business people and visitors see in our urban environment, including the open spaces to which the public have access," said a spokesman.
Services include:
Highway maintenance
Cleansing services such as litter collection and street sweeping
Grounds maintenance and landscaping
Maintenance of amenities (eg: play areas, street furniture)
People and places
Dog fouling/strays
Buildings are not included in the scheme.
