COME on Blackpool, it's time to put on your tank tops, polish those platforms, and fit into the flares, because 70s disco fever hit town this week in the form of Abbadabbadoo.
Abbadabbadoo is a fast- moving spectacular blend of 70s nostalgia combining song, dance and comedy, especially created for audiences of all ages.
It takes the form of a radio show being broadcast from a pirate station hosted by 70s DJ Lionel Vinyl. But instead of playing records, live bands recreate the music, and there are live comedy news broadcasts and even enactments of old adverts.
As well as Lionel Vinyl, the show features David Copperfield -- the entertainer, impressionist, and star of 80s classic TV show Three Of A Kind -- and singing star Rebecca Storm. Lionel Vinyl spoke out about the show in typical style when he said: "I'm so excited as this is my first show since Broadway and Las Vegas.
"I'm so pleased its happening in Blackpool - it's gonna be sensational!"
David Copperfield said: "I'm delighted to be back in Blackpool -- the entertainment capital of the world -- and I'm looking forward to meeting friends old and new at the Opera House."
Supported by a vibrant West End cast, and using the latest audio-visual wizardry, Abbadabbadoo is an an intoxicating cocktail of entertainment for the whole family.
Directed by Trevor Chance, staged and choreographed by Dollie Henry, and with musical director Chris Taylor, Abbadabbadoo will have audiences "dancing in the street", as the smell of Brut and Charlie waft down the aisles. The show runs until October 28 and tickets are priced £10.50 for adults and £5 for children and seniors. For booking information, call Blackpool Live on (01253) 292029.
