A YOUNG mum today blasted an electrical chain after two second hand washing machines broke down in a week.
Laura Anderson, 19, of Ormerod Street, Accrington, said the faults on the machines from the town's Radio Rentals store have flooded her home and caused her a major headache as she prepares to move with her eight month old daughter Chelsea.
Laura, who first bought an ex-rental washer, has now been told no-one can come to take back her second machine until Monday - the day after she moves house.
Laura is now doing her washing at her mother's house despite buying an ex-rental washing machine for £100 a fortnight ago.
She said as soon as she got the machine home, she found the drum was broken. That machine was replaced a week later but after filling it with a load of washing Laura realised it was flooding her home with water. She claims it has ruined the carpets.
Laura said: "I couldn't believe it when the second one flooded the house. I rang Radio Rentals and they said the earliest they could have someone along to move it was Monday.
"I am supposed to move house on Sunday. If I stay any longer, I will have to pay an extra week's rent. I have a young baby and everyone knows how much washing that means. "There is no way I can shift it by myself. I have already had to manage without one after the first one broke.
"Don't they check these things out?"
She added: "When I get to my new home I will live a fair distance away from my mum's and I haven't got the time to go backwards and forwards with my washing.
"We are having to wear clothes for longer than usual and wash the bare minimum at my mum's house.
"Now when I get to my new home I won't have a washing machine.
"I am really stuck because I have to wait until they get the washing machine back before I get my money back. I really don't want to wait."
The manager of Radio Rentals in Union Street, Accrington, was unavailable for comment. Radio Rentals customer services department said they would look into the problems.
