A SITE branded the plague of Cliviger is being offered for sale by Burnley Council.
No 1 Red Lees Avenue, a former house and shop, was bought by the council under a clearance order after it became semi-derelict and an eyesore causing a great deal of local concern. It has now been demolished. Ward councillor David Heginbotham urged the council's regeneration committee to delay the sale until after Christmas when the homes and development market improved but it was decided to go ahead with publication of a notice inviting sealed bids. Senior surveyor Stephen Hudson reported that redevelopment would prevent it becoming an eyesore again.
