A MAN was killed on the Bolton to Darwen railway line last night.
The decapitated body of the man, believed to be aged 48, was discovered about 400 yards south of Bromley Cross railway station.
British Transport Police were called to the scene after reports that a body had been struck by a train on the Bolton to Darwen line at 9.30pm.
Paramedics were called to Bromley Cross but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The body was taken to the mortuary at the Royal Bolton Hospital.
A British Transport Police spokesman said: "There are no suspicious circumstances and a file is being prepared for the coroner."
The man's family has been informed and the body identified but police have not released the man's name.
