THERE'S sure to be a blaze of interest in a special new charity calendar featuring local firefighters.
The 12 firemen from Morecambe and Lancaster were a little taken aback when asked if they would like to become models for the day and pose for pictures.
But the tasteful shots showing the local firefighters in different behind the scenes poses, which were taken by Citizen photographer Robert Underdown, have proved a big hit with both the fire station staff and their families and friends.
"We were a bit apprehensive at first," explained one of the firemen captured on film, Paul Shuttleworth.
"But when we were told that they were going to be tastefully done and not over the top we agreed. It's the first time anything like this has ever been done but we enjoyed doing it - it was a good crack.
"We'll probably get a lot of stick from the other crews when it comes out but it's for charity. Everyone who's seen it think's it looks good."
Each firemen in the calendar represents a different month of the year and features a number of striking poses.
They will go on sale at the beginning of December and can be purchased from Asda, the Citizen office and the Fire Service.
An Asda spokesman said: "Using local fireman was an idea we came up with because they provide such a great service to the community.
"All the money raised will go towards research into lung cancer."
