A PRESTON self storage company has done their bit to help Romanian children in the run-up to Christmas.
Capital Self Storage based in Moor Lane has spent months collecting more than 14 pallets of food for families in the east European country.
The local company is currently helping The European Children's Trust Harvest 2000 Appeal as a storage and drop off point for local people and businesses in the Preston area.
And, in a bid to kick-start the appeal, Capital Self Storage donated a ton of flour.
In the months leading up to Christmas hundreds of Romanian families are stretched so far that many children will go hungry or be abandoned at the infamous orphanages.
The Harvest 2000 Appeal aims to collect staple foods such as sugar, rice, pasta and flour for distribution to the families and children in Romania during the harsh winter months.
Capital Self Storage has been established in the Preston area for the last two years providing purpose-built steel rooms for the storage of household items and business goods.
Sue Newsham, marketing manager for the storage company, said: "All the goods donated have been collected from the depot.
"We just want to confirm to all the local people who helped us that the items collected are on their way to Romania."
Mick Hodgson, from Capital Self Storage, added: "We are delighted to be involved with the European Children's Trust Harvest Appeal and keeping children out of the orphanages this Christmas."
