I HAVE read with interest the recent letters regarding the West End of Morecambe.
Prior to the West End being a regeneration area public meetings were held to discuss the best way forward.
There were five options ranging from no1 to bulldoze the area to no 5 to do nothing with it.
A mid choice was made to try and improve the situation.
Although many people have benefited from the finance poured into the area the fact remains the West End is still in a terrible state.
Now the money is coming to an end what will happen?
I sadly predict the area will spiral downwards into the same predicament it was in before regeneration, and sooner or later a decision will be made to clear large areas of this district.
The same will happen in Poulton where the quality of housing stock is far worse.
I think the council should step back and think again about Poulton and look further than the ten years regeneration lasts, it is clearly not the answer if the West End is an example.
Name and
address supplied I fear the West End could spiral downwards now
