LYTHAM businessman Chris Clayton has endured his own restoration drama.
He bought 130-year-old Church Lodge on the edge of the Clifton Estate at Lytham and in the last 18 months he has...
TRACKED DOWN the original chimney pots, which turned up at a house in nearby Lytham town centre.
FOUND original cast iron gates, which were in a field near Clifton Hall ten miles away.
USED 25,000 bricks from a demolished mill in Accrington to extend the listed building in a sympathetic manner.
RECREATED in stained glass the crest of the Clifton family in his windows.
RESCUED 32-foot lengths of timber from the wreckage of the IRA Manchester bombing as new ceiling beams.
As a result the home, already a Grade Two listed building, has received a Fylde Council Conservation Award.
Said advertising company boss Chris: "I have done a lot of the grafting myself and the last 18 months have been a real education."
