ORGANISERS of a service for Rovers legend Jack Walker have said they are expecting a rush for tickets for the occasion.
Hundreds of Blackburn people will get the chance to pay tribute to Mr Walker at the commemoration service next month, as reported in later editions of last night's Lancashire Evening Telegraph.
The service in memory of the life and achievements of the Rovers hero -- who lost his battle against cancer in August, aged 71 -- will be held at Blackburn Cathedral on Friday, December 8, at 2.30pm and is expected to fill it to its 1,200 capacity.
A spokesman for the organisers said they would know exactly how many tickets would be available to the public once they had had replies from the invited guests, but they expected demand to to be "overwhelming".
The service will celebrate all aspects of Mr Walker's life, including his upbringing in Blackburn, his successful business career and his achievement in bringing football's Premiership title to Ewood Park for Rovers in 1995.
Tickets are available on a first come, first served basis, by applying in writing or by ballot if demand is high.
Blackburn Rovers FC will handle all ticket arrangements and applications should be sent to: Tom Finn, Secretary, Blackburn Rovers FC, Ewood Park, Freepost NWW8328, Blackburn, Lancashire BB2 4ZY.
Tickets will be posted out from November 30 with full details of arrangements for the service.
