ON the weekend that the people of Bury were commemorating the lost generations of two world wars, the murder of an Asian taxi driver took place in their midst.
Walking around the town for most of the day after the murder, I heard a number of wild racist comments from people about "losing the streets to the strangers in their midst".
With such an attitude Bury seems to me to be a sad place to live.
