VISITING town crier Frank Barton, from Carnforth, took to the streets of Blackburn to shout the town's praises for all to hear.
From his position under the clock tower in King William Street, Mr Barton rang his bell and announced the launch of the Shout About Blackburn programme, which has seen a week of theme days and events throughout the borough, beginning with the switch on of the town's Christmas lights.
Yesterday was Shout About Blackburn Markets Day, and the town crier announced a list of events in the town's markets, including demonstrations of cookery and flower arranging, plus carol singing and a best dressed stall competition.
Paul Isherwood, Blackburn with Darwen's town centre manager said: "It's going really well. This week was the start of Christmas shopping in Blackburn and we organised a whole week of events to prove to the public that there's plenty to shout about in Blackburn."
