I AM amazed that, given all the publicity on TV, newspapers and radio, no-one has started an official fund for the flood victims.
How quick this country is to highlight disasters abroad of floods, famine, fires, etc, and then to open phone lines so we can make donations with credit cards, or pay into banks and post offices.
But I have yet to hear of anything being done for our flood victims. I, for one, would give with pleasure. I am sure there must he many more like me.
Some of these people are not insured and for many it's the third or fourth time of flooding. What a miserable Christmas they will have and many months hard work to follow.
The Government can only do so much, so please, someone, somewhere open a fund officially and let the people who are 'sitting pretty' help out those who have forgotten what sitting pretty is all about.
