SAFETY conscious firms in East Lancashire are being given the chance to prove they are genuinely on top of health and safety matters by entering a national competition.
RoSPA, the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, wants companies to enter its 2001 Occupational Safety and Health (OS & H) awards scheme.
The scheme, which attracted almost 900 entries last year from across the world, is an accepted benchmark for excellence. It offers firms, whatever their size or nature of their business, an opportunity to prove to others, as well as themselves, that they take health and safety seriously.
"The world of work is changing rapidly and there has never been a greater need for a new focus on health and safety," said Roger Bibbings, RoSPA occupational safety adviser. "The increase in home-working and outsourcing of work by larger companies are still all influencing the way we deal with health and safety."
