Runcorn 2, Accrington St 0

STANLEY went down to a second consecutive UniBond Premier Division away defeat in a disappointing performance at Runcorn.

Boss John Coleman was furious at his side's lack lustre display which has hampered their bid to reach the Conference next season.

The home side -- managed by former Reds striker Liam Watson, who returned to Canal Street in September for a five figure fee -- took the lead in the 25 minute through Dave Nolan who lobbed a left foot shot beyond goalkeeper Jamie Speare.

Accrington came close to equalising two minutes later as a 40 yard Steve Hollis free kick curled narrowly wide of the Runcorn goal. Shortly after a good header from Paul Mullin set Gary Williams free but he miss hit his shot wide of the target. On 34 minutes Williams was again put clear by Mullin and this time he fired over the crossbar from just outside the penalty area.

Runcorn almost increased their lead four minutes into the second half when Chris Price had a 45 yard chip shot which had Speare scrambling back to turn the ball over the crossbar.

Runcorn's second killer goal came after 56 minutes as Steve Caswell lost possession and the ball was played through to Dave Robinson who coolly slotted the ball past the advancing Speare.

The introduction of Russell Payne as a substitute straight after the second goal lifted Stanley but they were almost caught on the break on the hour mark as Mike Moseley raced clear but Speare bravely saved at his feet.

Eleven minutes from the end Robinson launched an audacious 50 yard lob that saw Speare scramble back to his goal as the ball ended up on the roof of his net.

Accrington Stanley manager John Coleman has transfer listed all his first team squad after Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Runcorn.
