I WOULD like to comment on the incorrect allegations made by Blackpool Zoo in The Citizen (November 17).
Firstly, the Captive Animals Protection Society does not "actively finance an African location that admits to using electric shock equipment on baby elephants".
Secondly, our policy is quite clear. The Captive Animals Protection Society does not condone the use of electric shock devices on elephants.
Blackpool Zoo staff should check their facts before making false and misleading claims.
Unlike Blackpool Zoo's elephants -- destined to live in captivity all of their lives, performing tricks to entertain the public -- Daphne Sheldrick's elephants go back to the wild, a point that Blackpool Zoo seem to have forgotten.
