LAST Sunday I was honoured to share Remembrance Day with the people of Blackpool.
For many years I have attended such parades with my family but I have never felt so moved and reflective at such an occasion as I did last Sunday.
The ceremony was just and respectful against the sound of the water, momentarily broken against the loud crack of the cannon, then the haunting tones of the last call instilled the ambience of respect for the past and hope for the future.
My five-year-old son, a little young to understand, sensed the meaning of the occasion making him unusually silent in awe, and later fascinated with the ageless brave and voluntary groups in the civic march past the Town Hall.
I will never forget my Armistice Sundays in Blackpool and the hospitality my family and I received. I was moved to share the reflection of this day with the people of this fine town.
David Morris,
Prospective Parliamentary Candidate, Blackpool South.
