AN operatic society is bringing a modern musical to the stage for the British amateur premiere.
"Closer Than Ever" will be staged for two nights only at the recently refurbished Empire Theatre, Bacup, by stars of Bacup Amateur Operatic Society.
Producer Anthony Williams is enthusiastic about the latest show by the British lyricists of "Miss Saigon".
He said: "All the action takes place at a New York dinner party for two couples, and reveals how their relationships have changed over the years.
"There's lots of humour and it was a massive hit on Broadway."
The show stars NODA-award winning singers Judith Riley and Simon Westwell with Vicki Stott and Michael Mills, who have come from Manchester to join the show.
Curtain up is at 7.30pm on Friday and Saturday.
Tickets cost £6 or £5 and are available by calling 01706 874080.
