Clarets star Paul Smith yesterday took his first steps along another comeback road as he made a successful return to training following the freak shin injury he sustained last month.
The luckless winger had to curtail his loan spell at Oldham after falling down an unlit manhole and receiving a gash which required a dozen stitches.
However, he was back with the Clarets first-team squad yesterday and could be in contention for a run-out in the reserves at Port Vale tomorrow night.
"We'll see, although it might be a bit early.
"We don't want to rush it because it's been a nasty injury. I'm pleased to see him back. He's worked hard to get fit," said Ternent.
