IN his remarks concerning Clitheroe Royal Grammar School (Letters, November 23) Mr Malcolm White went on at length about the "rights" of pupils.

Surely, teachers also have "rights," insomuch as they should not have to be needlessly placed in a position of locum doctor, locum parent, or locum social worker.

Earlier this year, there was a tragic case involving the Scouts Association where a young boy fell to his death. His father was with him at the time but felt justified in suing over his son's tragic death.

He also tried suing the landowner for failing to place warning signs stating that falling down a massive chasm could be dangerous.

The most dangerous thing these days is people trying to place the blame with someone else, especially where compensation may be involved.

Commonsense has gone by the wayside these days.
