BABIES born during the GreenWeek festivities in May are to have trees planted to mark their births.
Blackburn with Darwen Council will plant around 50 native British trees to celebrate the arrival of the babies born between May 13 - 21.
That week council staff were busy with GreenWeek 2000 events, promoting awareness of green issues.
Parents will also be presented with certificates by the Mayor of Blackburn, Coun Jack Bury, to mark the occasion and the babies' names will be engraved on a plaque.
Council events co-ordinator Steve Lee said: "These children will quite literally have their roots in the heart of Blackburn with Darwen. The trees will serve as a reminder of each new life."
They will be planted on Sunday at 11.15am at Shorey Bank, Darwen.
