TIME at the bar please! We can no longer accept entries to The Citizen's Name the Pub competition.

And thanks to you it has been one of our most popular competitions ever, with hundreds of bright ideas.

In conjunction with JD Wetherspoons, The Citizen gave you the chance to name the brand new pub which will be opening in Wood Street, St Annes, in February next year.

The name had to reflect the history of St Annes in some way and we have had some unusual, some interesting, some well-researched and, frankly, some downright daft entries. The final decision lies with JD Wetherspoons, but here are a selection of some of our favourites. The Debtor's Retreat -- old name for St Annes

The Wig and Stethoscope -- the building in Wood Street has been used as both a solicitors and a doctors surgery.

The Kilgrimol -- after a legend about a St Annes church which was swept away to sea, the bells of which you can still hear tolling from beneath the waves.

The Lord Ashton -- after the famous St Annes benefactor.

The Squire Pickles -- named after the last Squire of Lytham and St Annes.

The Trawlboat Inn -- "the first and most lively pub to be built in St Annes"

Dawson's Creek -- named after famous Lytham comic Les Dawson and "Creek" being another name for a watering hole

All these suggestion, plus many more too numerous to list, have been sent to the judges at JD Wetherspooons.

We will be announcing the winner in the very near future. Please note, in some cases we received many suggestions for the same name or similar names.

In these cases we will draw the winner at random from all those suggestions.
