THE St Helens School under 15s football side moved into the fourth round of the National Cup, the town's best run in the comeptition for many seasons, with a superb 4-0 win over Barrow.
Manager Tony Graves was delighted by the overall quality of the performance as St Helens totally outplayed their opponents. Philip Dixon (St Augustine's) was the goal hero with a superbly-taken hat-trick, after Liam Shaw (Rainhill) had opened the scoring in the 10th minute.
All the goals came from fine teamwork and the win earns the lads a home tie against Salford in the fourth round.
The under 14s had their best win of the season with an 8-0 success over Mid-Cheshire in the Vernons Merseyside League with Tonks (Edmund Arrowsmith) grabbing a hat-trick.
Unfortunately the Primary Schools team lost 3-0 to Crosby. Finishing was the major difference between the two sides, with the local lads unable to convert their chances.
Jamie Lee was the St Helens man of the match.
