THE crowning glory of a £250,000 refurbishment programme at a Ribble Valley church has been put in place.
The millennium project at All Hallows' Church, Mitton, has had a "crowns" theme and a huge, specially-commissioned window, engraved with crowns has been given pride of place at the historic village church. The church has been all but closed for some weeks while major works have been undertaken to complete the millennium transformation.
The project has included removing the old church organ to make room for the new window, as well as replacing the floor.
The window has been specially made and engraved by a glass firm from Poulton-le-Fylde and specialist lifting equipment was needed to hoist it into place for fitting. The church will be officially opened during a thanksgiving, renewal and hope service at 2.30pm on Sunday, December 10.
