COULD all those writing about the Arab-Israeli strife first consult the 1948 Guardian files in the Central Reference Library.
It makes no sense historically to treat international conflicts like a school sports day on a level sports field. All previous wars have ended in talks that have had to recognise that someone is in a position of relative strength.
It would be most interesting to hear from Palestine Solidarity as to why the Arab parties did not create an Arab Palestine between 1947-67. After all, Israel got on with creating a Jewish State and has thrived.
Finally before writing about Israel just try re-reading the letter substituting Scots or Irish instead of Zionist or Israel, and Maori or Red Indian instead of Arab or Palestine. And think again.
