A LEUKAEMIA charity will benefit by nearly £1,000 thanks to a charity firework display and light switch on at Pendle Village Mill, Brierfield.
Burnley Football Club's star striker Andy Payton was called in to flick the switch and light up a 20ft tree and lights in the courtyard.
There were children's rides, refreshments and Nelson Brass Band entertained. Standard Fireworks organised a professional firework display and more than 1,000 people attended. Public relations officer Carol Pinder said: "We decided to raise money for Pendle Leukaemia Research because it is a local charity and we have their collecting tins.
"We organised a giant raffle with £500 as the first prize and we hope to have raised around £1,000."
