Thanks Andy ANDY Cooke is gone but not forgotten at Turf Moor.

The crowd favourite ended his five-year stay at Burnley with a £300,000 move to Stoke City yesterday and was set to make his Potters debut against Luton Town at the Britannia Stadium this afternoon.

But he leaves the supporters with fond memories.

Paul Smith, secretary of supporters' club Boundary Clarets, said: "He always gave 100 per cent and will be missed by the fans. He always had a great rapport with the supporters and scored a lot of important goals. "The two he got against Plymouth were vital and then getting the winner to put us through in the Cup at Derby last season made him even more of a hero."

Smith, who believes Stoke have landed a bargain and claimed that some Clarets fans were baffled by his recent omission from Burnley's match-day 16, added: "I'd just like to thank him for his services and wish him all the best at Stoke."

Don't be wet! THERE were plenty of groans and grumbles among the supporters after last Saturday's wash-out at Watford.

But there was nothing to beat the conspiracy theory of one Watford fan.

He claimed to BBC Radio Five Live's phone-in show that Hornets' boss Graham Taylor didn't want to play against a Burnley side who are well used to the rain and playing in such conditions because of the inclement climate in the North-West.

As he put it: "If you can see the Pennines from Burnley it's about to rain and if you can't it's already raining."

The show's host, Richard Littlejohn, shot down the theory, however, insisting that the sun had shone on two separate days in Burnley last year.

a WATFORD might have been the original 'family club' but Clarets midfielder Paul Cook showed his fatherly instincts at Vicarage Road.

As the little mascots got a soaking during the pre-match warm-up, Cook gave the claret and blue-clad Burnley youngster his waterproof coat and bobble hat in an attempt to stay dry.

TEASER: Last week we asked, which two clubs has new Clarets signing Ian Moore played for on loan. The answer is Bradford City and West Ham. This week: Andy Cooke's last goal for Burnley came against which club earlier this season?

Morgan move FORMER Clarets defender Steve Morgan has joined Altrincham.

The 32-year-old, who left Turf Moor 18 months ago, spent a short spell with Halifax Town this season following his release by Hull City in the summer.

But he has now dropped out of the League in an effort to help Mark Ward's men push for promotion from the UniBond League Premier Division.
