IT baffles me why old people would want to keep large amounts of money in the house (LET, November 29).
I do feel sorry for them. Society has changed -- you can't trust anyone.
I visited a relative a short while ago and on their door was a notice which read: "Attention caller. No cold callers, no sales persons of any kind. I am not interested in your religious views.
"If you are on official business I want to see your ID card and want you to supply a contact number so I may verify your ID. If not, go away. Thank you for your co-operation."
My advice to all people, young and old, is get your money in a bank and if you have to have cash around don't broadcast it. If a caller won't leave, be rude.
