RIBBLE Valley MP Nigel Evans donned his wellies for a day to help celebrate National Tree Week.
As part of an initiative to encourage MPs to plant Oak trees in their constituencies, Mr Evans arrived at Oakhill College, Whalley, and planted two new trees,
The college's two new additions were christened Philip and Elizabeth to mark the Golden Jubilee of the Queen's reign.
Mr Evans said: "I am absolutely delighted to be taking part in 'Constituency Oaks' during National Tree Week. I hope that the oaks that I have planted will reach high into the sky and become a prominent feature of Oakhill.
"I am also delighted that both trees have been named after Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness Prince Philip in recognition of the Golden Jubilee, which we will all be celebrating in 2002."
