Farsley Celtic 0, Chorley 1
A workmanlike display brought Chorley a welcome UniBond First Division win, their third in successive visits to the Throstle Nest ground.
In a game of few clear cut scoring chances the Magpies crucially made their best one count in the 19 minute.
It was a classic route one goal and striker Keith Evans, returning to the club he left a year ago, marked an eye catching first appearance with a hand in it.
Keeper Simon Marsh's long punt was flicked on by Evans to Matt Swailes who promptly left the advancing Farsley keeper Liam Sutcliffe stranded with a perfectly executed lob.
Such was the control exerted by the Chorley central defensive duo, Ian Leather and Steve Hook, that the Farsley attack posed little threat to Marsh who did not have to make a serious save in the entire match.
Evans almost set up a second goal after the interval but after cleverly beating two defenders on the by line his cut back to Swailes was smartly intercepted by Sutcliffe.
Chorley lost Paul Fleming, concussed in a clash of heads with Ian Blackstone in the closing stages, before there were close calls at each end.
Blackstone's sharp shot on the turn flew just past the post and then in the last minute Chorley's Neil Mitchell produced a fine solo dribble but had the ball snatched off his toes by the ever alert Sutcliffe.
Not a memorable match but a joy day for the Magpies after their recent miserable run.
