BLACKBURN Rovers remain hopeful of selling their full allocation of tickets for the forthcoming derby clash with Burnley in 12 days time.

Rovers have been granted 4,200 tickets for the first league meeting between the two clubs in 17 years.

According to the latest figures, just over 3,000 tickets have been snapped up so far with the majority of fans opting to watch the contest on Sky TV.

But, with some applications still to be processed, the club are confident of hitting their target.

"Sales have been going pretty well," said Ewood chief executive John Williams.

"At the last count we had just over 3,000 and a very large percentage of those are also travelling on the free coaches.

"We might sell a few more yet but, with it being on television, some fans are opting to stay at home.

"But, as of last week, I don't think Burnley had sold all their allocation either. So it will still be a good showing by Blackburn fans whatever happens."

The two clubs have worked closely together in the build up to the game and, after a series of meetings, Rovers decided their allocation would be made available to season-ticket holders only.

In the two weeks since they went on sale, the club have received a steady stream of postal applications.

And, with the best part of a fortnight still to go, Rovers believe they could break the 4,000 barrier.

"Hand on heart, I can't say whether we'll sell them all or not," said Williams.

"But we are still processing applications and there's another 10 days or so still to go."
